Lighting has become a popular add-on for AV integration companies. Attend a manufacturer seminar, get a certificate, and suddenly a company is offering "lighting design and specification." It is an easy line to add to a proposal. It is a much harder thing to actually deliver well.

At Bri-Tech, lighting has never been an add-on. We have been doing lighting design and control for over three decades, across galleries, NYC retail showrooms, and video studios. Right now, we are installing an in-house showroom for a leading Long Island cosmetics manufacturer, the kind of project where lighting has to do real work: rendering color accurately, flattering product and skin tone, and holding up under repeated use by a design team that will be in that space every day.

Real Lighting Design Calculations, Not a Manufacturer App

Our founder and designer was performing actual Lumen method calculations back in the 1980s, by hand, long before online apps and manufacturer tools made it easy to generate a number without understanding what it means. We have owned a lumen meter for decades. Many of our competitors do not own one, and more tellingly, do not yet know they need one. A seminar teaches you which fixture to spec. It does give you expernce and intuition that the light you speify is actually going doing what the spec sheet promised.

Direct Relationships with the Lines That Matter

We work directly with manufacturers like BB&S Lighting, Ketra, Liteline, and Inspirence, a mix of top-of-market and market-competitive lines that we keep in our showroom and in our sample kits. That means when we recommend a fixture, it is because we have handled it, compared it, and seen how it performs, not because it is the line we happen to be certified to sell.

The Part Everyone Skips: Fine-Tuning After Install

A lighting plan on paper is a starting point, not a finished product. We do after-install fine-tuning as a standard part of every job. It is worth asking whoever designed your current lighting one simple question: when was the last time they got on a ladder? Dialing in beam angles, adjusting color temperature, and correcting for how a space actually reads once it is occupied and furnished is where a lighting design earns its keep.

Control That Actually Controls

Good lighting is only as good as its control system. We understand driver design and professional DMX, which means we can ensure correct dimming behavior and consistent light color across a system, not just at turn-on but over years of use. And because our electrical staff hold a master electrician license, our own team can work directly on high-voltage controls rather than handing that part of the job off to a subcontractor who was not in the room for the design decisions.

Make Lighting Part of the Plan, Not an Afterthought

Lighting makes a major impact on a space. It shapes how a gallery reads, how product photographs, and how a room makes people feel the moment they walk in. If you are working with an architect or interior designer, we can partner with them directly to make sure their preferred fixtures are properly specified and correctly controlled, so the design intent survives all the way to installation.

If your next project deserves lighting design backed by real experience, real measurement, and a team that will still be there after the fixtures go in, let's talk.

Contact Bri-Tech to discuss your fine home, gallery, showroom, or school lighting project. We support architects and interior designers to insure fixtures specified are compatible for proper control. info@bri-tech.com
